The Dream of Lirné Valarion
It’s like you’re back in Maxburg. Mother, and father, are both there. They look upon you warmly with unpainted smiles and unquestioning open-armed acceptance. The Valerion name is shouted by well-fed and well-behaved masses. There is no crime. There is no unrest. While everyone knows it is due to you (Lirné Valerion) you are too modest to simply bask in their praise. The people bow to you–and you bow to the people!
Your grand utopia, for all its glory, is quizzical in a way too: for, in a place so equitable and just, what is Lirné Valerion for?
You snore yourself awake at the end of this euphoric dream. The disappointment you feel, to be here in Barovia and not drinking in the hope of free people, is palpable. You need energy and optimism. Good food will start that, and hopefully the burgomaster’s mansion has a good chef like back home. But, the handpies from that old woman in the square would work too. That would really help you, to help Barovia, to become more like Maxburg. Well, your idyllic Maxburg.
