My good visitors. I write you with some information with regards to each of your three requests.

First, to your inquiry about Arrigal and his contacts earlier today. Arabelle has informed me that Lady Wachter, through her low minion, sought to facilitate your assassination, in light of your discoveries at Wachterhaus. Despite a hefty bag of gold as ante, Arrigal refused the contract. In your human kind’s parlance: you are now even. I believe he now considers his debt to you for saving Arabelle’s life to be paid.

Second I have - at last - insights into this unusual scroll you provided me. The investigation took longer than I anticipated, because it holds no ordinary spell. But instead it is a custom-crafted one that appears to recreate the effects of at least two more ordinary spells. One of them, first invented by a wizard named Nystul, is rare enough in its own right. But to then combine it with the Alter Self spell? That suggests great arcane capability. Only a highly accomplished wizard could create such a unique incantation. For your reference I’ve provided details on the two comprising spells with my notes.

Finally, with regards to the three boys you asked of, the ones that are the quarry of the Vallaki hunters. My people’s trackers worked alongside those humans, and I can report that signs of the boys’ passage were uncovered. Because the tracks had gone so cold, only the most general details could be gathered. Yet still, we know: there were indeed three boys that traveled from Vallaki, traversing northwest through the Svalich Woods to Lake Baratok. The three boys’ tracks were accompanied by two more. More interesting, and alarming, was that these other tracks were not always those of humanoids – they sometimes reflected monstrous bipedal and quadrupedal forms. The group skirted the shores of the lake until their trail was lost going into the dangerous Balinok foothills to the northwest.
